Run parts like a profit center.

Parts is the biggest money maker in most dealerships. But most parts managers got handed the keys without anyone showing them how to drive. We built this to fix that. Twelve sections and fifty one modules that walk you through running parts like the business it already is.

Why this program exists

Parts pays the bills. Most parts managers were never trained for the job.

In just about every dealership we walk into, parts is the number one money maker. It beats new equipment sales. And it is almost always run by someone who was great at the counter and got promoted into the job.

That is not your fault. Nobody ever handed you a playbook for this. So we wrote one, and we will walk it with you.

When parts runs tight, good things follow. Your warranty claims clean up. The right part is on the shelf when your customer needs it. And your whole dealership sells more. That is what we are here to help you do.

8–15%

Of your inventory could be sitting dead on the shelf right now. It sounds small until you add up what it costs you to keep it there.

#1

Parts is the top money maker in the average dealership, ahead of new equipment. The money is already there. The training just has not been.

“Your warehouse is not a retirement home for parts.”

Powersports

Fast-moving gear and tight margins, with customers who want the part on the shelf right now.

RV

Big tickets and long lead times, and a parts process that keeps the service bays full.

Trailers

Flatbeds, utility, and cargo. Simple on the surface, but the parts and add-ons add up fast.

Where does your parts department actually stand?

Answer 18 honest questions about your operations, profit, growth, and team. Here is the only rule. Do not score yourself on what you know you should be doing. Score yourself on what is really happening on the floor today. The gap between those two is where your money is hiding.

  • Operations and inventory. Are your counts right, and is your counter actually working for you?
  • Profit. Are you catching every dollar on freight, pricing, and the add-on sale?
  • Growth. Do you have a real plan for dead inventory, or just a bin in the back you try not to look at?
  • Team. Are you watching your numbers every week, or only when something blows up?

Who's teaching this

Sara Clements-Hey and Bob Clements.

Questions

The things managers ask us first.

It is self-paced, so you are in the driver's seat. For most parts managers it takes about four to six months to finish, working on it around the regular chaos of the day. No need to lock yourself in the office for a week.
Yes. That is the whole point of going through it as a cohort. You get a live meeting once a month with the BCI team and the other managers in your group. Think of us as the people in your corner, not someone grading you from across the room.
Yes, and the good kind. Your homework is your own parts department. You take what you learn and put it to work on your floor, so it actually sticks. No book reports, promise.
You do, but you have to earn it. There is a test at the end, because a certification you did not have to work for is just a fancy printout. Pass it and you have officially earned your Parts Manager Certification.
Maybe. It depends on your manufacturer and what they offer. Some help with training like this, some do not. Tell us who you are with and we will help you figure out your options.
Then you are going to want all of your parts managers in this. It gets every store running the same playbook instead of each one doing its own thing. If you have more than five locations, reach out and ask us about group pricing.
Yes. Putting your team through it gives you a much clearer picture of what your dealers deal with every day. Fair warning, you may finish it and decide your field sales team needs to take it too.
